Have you ever had a stamp or collected stickers and exchanged them with friends? In the past, it was often boys that collected stickers. They were usually of their favourite football stars and teams. "Have you got Beckham?", "Haven't you filled up your Celtic page 3? Mine's been full for ages!" or 'Wow, I've been waiting for that sticker of Ronaldo for months!" were common phrases heard while they were exchanging stickers. Lately, girls have been collecting stickers too. Their stickers can be of anything really, from animals to princesses. This hobby may not seem as exciting as doing martial arts or as creative as pictures and cookery, but collectors learn important social skills when they exchange their stickers with others. They learn to ask for things they want and to give to others. They also learn to give reasons for not giving something: "Sorry, I've got thanks, I've got that sticker and I want to keep it for a bit." or "No, I've got three of those, so I don't want another one." Also, many hobbies such as photography need expensive equipment like a camera. Stickers, however, are cheap and good for fun, making them a big hit with parents too.
