The traditional Romanian houses
They were small, they were built by the owners themselves. The technique was passed from generation to generation. The houses were surrounded by gardens with flowers, trees and vegetables. Their families were big and they needed spacious rooms. When the house plan was made, the large stakes were "glued" together with big amounts of clay mixed with wheat, then they would put water on the walls to become firm. The men would throw the clay with force to make it stick better. The pattern was preserved in time, the houses were made out of two rooms and another one separating them. If the families were even bigger, other rooms would be made, they were named "chilier".
