1.Stephen the Great, Ștefan cel Mare in Romanian was born in 1435.
2.He was voivod (prince) of Moldavia from 1457 to 1504.
3.Stephen secured the throne of Moldavia in 1457.
4.He successfully repulsed an invasion by Hungary in 1467.
5. In 1471 he invaded Walachia.
6.Stephen defeated the invaders near Vaslui, in 1475.
7.He was in turn defeated at Valea Albă (1476), and he barely managed to escape with his life.
8.After 1484 Stephen had to contend with Turkish,Polish and Hungarian designs on Moldavian independence.
9.His reign he concluded with the sultan Bayezid II with the cost of an annual tribute to the Turks.
10.Stephen the Great died in 1504, July 2.
