Frecvent turiștii confundă Tower Bridge cu Podul Londrei (London Bridge), care este podul următor pe direcția sensului de curgere a Tamisei.

O legendă urbană spune că în 1968, Robert McCulloch, cel care a cumpărat London Bridge și l-a reconstruit în Lake Havasu, a crezut că a cumpărat Tower Bridge. Acest zvon a fost infirmat de McCulloch și de Ivan Luckin, cel care a vândut podul.

Tower Bridge este în același timp un pod mobil și un pod suspendat. On the nord shore of Tamisa is the Tower of London and Saint Katharine Docks. On the south shore is Citty Hall. Frequently the tourists confuse Tower Bridge with London Bridge, which is the next bridge in the direction of the Tamisa flow direction.

A urban legend says that in 1968, Robert McCulloch, the one who bought London Bridge and he restored it in lake Havascu, troungh he bought Tower Bridge. This rumor has been confirmed by McCulloch and Ivan Luckin, the one who sold the bridge.

Tower Bridge is in the same time a mobile bridge and a suspention bridge. The bridge have two towers that are linked together at the higher level by the passageways, which have the role of opposing horizontal forces exercised at the base of each tower.

The current color of the bridge dates back to 1977 when it was painted in red, white and blue in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the ascent to the throne. The original color was chocolate brown.
